My favourite trees do change from time to time as our sometimes harsh climate can dictate and reduce our selection list
One small tree is never far from the top is
1. Forest Pansy ( Cercis Canadensis)
A lovely display of pink blossoms prior to the formation of purple leaves sets of a Beautiful display through spring and summer. Forest pansies are deciduous trees and the leaves turn to crimson red then yellow For the cooler months you are left with a very striking blacked multi-stem tree that looks phenomenal with the light at the base.
2. Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum Atropurureum)
I could use it for every job if only clients would let me.
Brilliant shape and purple-red foliage.
It presents a kaleidoscope of colour in the autumn months and then brilliant red leaves prior to its winter sleep.
3. Magnolia grandiflora ‘Kay Parris’
My third favourite is Magnolia Kay Paris.
A magnificent feature plant But also brilliant as a hedging alternative to the viburnum and photinia hedges that we have all seen.
It’s very easy to control requires minimum pruning. it has wonderful velvet texture under the foliage and an amazing flower display through the warmer months.
Elegant and scented.
